Today's reality capture landscape makes it is easier than ever to get going with 3D models, for geoscience applications and beyond. This is thanks to the huge leap forward in photogrammetry (or structure from motion, SfM) automation and drone platforms made over the last decade. High-resolution, spatially accurate 3D models underpin a wide range of geoscience workflows – from quantitative analysis and digital outcrop studies to virtual field trips and digital twins.
